I tried several popular quiz apps, but many of them were too easy or contained repetitive questions. This made it difficult for my friends and me to continue playing. Do you know any less common but genuinely engaging resources, such as websites where quizzes are thought-provoking and surprising in their format?

Gathered with friends, tried a popular quiz app, and twenty minutes later my buddy actually fell asleep. Not faking it, just passed out. Questions about capitals and dates, same thing over and over. Got annoyed and went looking for something that doesn’t put your brain to sleep. Found The Impossible Quiz, it’s pure absurdity. They ask “How many fingers?” and the right answer is “Blue” because the screen is blue. We laughed until it hurt. Then on a whim bought “The Coffin on Wheels” from Kvestiks, a horror themed quiz with questions about Soviet urban legends, everyone plays on their phones, dimmed the lights. That same friend said it was the best night of the year.

When we wanted something that actually makes you think we found SunnyQuiz. It’s more like solving little mysteries. There was one about a Brazilian football team that played in white stripes even though their kit is red. After a day one stripe turned red, then another. What happened? Fans donated blood, and each donation brought back one red stripe. We just sat there stunned. Now that’s the only kind of quiz we play.

Quiz apps get so repetitive after a while, with the same questions repeated over and over again. My friends and I were about to give up until we found a site with actually engaging quizzes. They have five difficulty levels, and the expert ones are brutal: less than 20% of people answer them correctly. You get more points for harder questions, and you can compare your scores with others. The topics are far more varied, and you can filter by topic or difficulty to find exactly what you’re looking for.
