I’m moving from the US to Germany for work and I’m trying to sort out the health insurance part before I arrive. My employer will put me into the German system once I start, but I’ll be in Germany a little earlier than my actual start date. I’ve read that I need proof of health insurance for the visa/residence process, so I’m wondering what people normally use for that gap. Is international expat health insurance the right option, or is there some kind of temporary German policy that makes more sense?
