ParticipantI bought a new desk from an online store last week because I am finally setting up a home office. The box showed up yesterday and it is way bigger and heavier than I expected. I opened it thinking I could handle it myself. There are about fifty screws, six different types of bolts, and the instructions are just pictures with no words. I spent two hours just trying to figure out which part is the left leg. My living room now looks like a hardware store exploded and I have not even gotten past step three. I live in a small condo near Yonge and Eglinton so I do not have space to just leave everything scattered around for days. Has anyone in Toronto hired someone just to assemble flat pack furniture, like a desk or a dresser, and roughly how much does that cost and where do you even find someone reliable who does not charge more than the desk itself?

ParticipantI bought a standing desk last year and the box sat in my hallway for three weeks because the instructions were just confusing drawings with no words. A coworker mentioned a local furniture assembly service Toronto. The guy came over with his own tools, laid everything out, and had the desk built in about 45 minutes. No leftover screws, no wobble, and he took all the cardboard away. I just made coffee and stayed out of his way. Best decision ever. Way better than fighting with it myself and ending up with a crooked mess. Just call someone. You will be glad you did. That was my experience.

ParticipantMy living room looked like a hardware store exploded too when I tried assembling a desk last month. After spending three hours and still having extra screws, I almost gave up. A buddy of mine who lives downtown told me he just hires someone now because it saves him so much time and frustration. He said it is totally worth it to just pay for assembly instead of wasting a whole weekend. He actually found a great service that handles this kind of stuff perfectly, especially if you have movie theater bed seats that need setting up, because they are way more complex than a regular table. Apparently, these pros can knock out a full room setup in under an hour while you just relax.
