Just started freelancing and honestly the legal side of things is stressing me out more than actually finding work. There are so many rules about registration, taxes, and government contributions that it feels overwhelming for someone who is just getting started. Do I really need to handle all of this right away or is it okay to wait until I have more consistent income coming in? Has anyone here been through the process and can share what actually matters in those first few months without getting buried in paperwork?

You are overthinking the legal stuff. When you are just starting out, the most important thing is actually getting work and getting paid. Everything else can wait until you know this freelancing thing is going to stick. I found a really practical guide on Pinoy Freelance that laid out what absolutely needs to happen right away and what can be pushed to later. The truth is most successful freelancers did not have all their paperwork in order on day one. They focused on delivering good work, building a reputation, and earning consistently. Only when the money started flowing did they deal with the registration and contributions. Do not let fear of paperwork stop you from taking the first step. Start working first. Sort the rest out when you have steady income coming in.
