ParticipantI’ve been playing Ultimate Team for quite a while, but I still feel like managing coins properly is one of the hardest parts of building a competitive squad. It’s easy to spend a large amount of coins on one or two players because they look like obvious upgrades, only to realize a few days later that the market has changed and the same budget could have been used much more effectively. I’m especially interested in how other players decide when to spend their FC 26 Coins and when to keep them for later.
For example, do you usually keep a certain amount of coins available for unexpected opportunities on the Transfer Market, or do you prefer to invest most of your balance into your starting eleven? I’ve noticed that having a decent coin reserve can be useful when new players are released, when popular cards suddenly become cheaper, or when a particular SBC requires several expensive players. At the same time, keeping hundreds of thousands of coins unused for weeks can feel pointless if those coins could make the current squad noticeably better.
Another thing I’m trying to understand is how people approach player upgrades. Sometimes a relatively expensive card only provides a small improvement compared with a cheaper alternative, while other times one major upgrade can completely change how a team feels in-game. I usually try to look at positions where my current players are actually causing problems rather than simply buying the highest-rated card I can afford. Still, it can be difficult to judge whether an upgrade is worth the price, especially when player prices fluctuate constantly.
SBCs are another area where coin management becomes complicated. Some challenges can be completed relatively cheaply and offer useful rewards, while others can consume a huge part of your balance without guaranteeing anything particularly valuable. I’ve had situations where I spent coins completing several SBCs and then didn’t have enough left to replace an outdated player in my squad. Because of that, I’m wondering whether experienced players set a specific weekly budget for SBCs or simply decide case by case depending on the rewards.
I’m also curious about how much people rely on the Transfer Market to increase their coin balance. I know some players actively trade cards, monitor price changes and look for opportunities around major promotions, while others simply play matches and use their rewards. Personally, I find market trading interesting, but I don’t always have enough time to constantly monitor player prices. It seems like there has to be a balance between making coins through trading and actually spending time playing the game.
Another question is whether it makes sense to save coins before major content releases. Prices can move quite a lot when new promotions, popular player cards, SBCs or other Ultimate Team content become available. Sometimes waiting can result in better opportunities, but there is also the risk of missing out on an upgrade that would have improved your team immediately. I’d like to know how other players decide when it is worth waiting and when it is better to spend.
I’m also interested in how much coin balance you personally consider “comfortable.” For one player, having 50,000 coins left after building a squad might be perfectly normal, while another player may refuse to spend below 200,000 because they want flexibility for future upgrades. Do you normally try to maintain a minimum balance, or do you prefer to spend almost everything if you find a player who fits your tactics?
Platform probably makes a difference as well, since Transfer Market conditions and player prices can vary between PlayStation, Xbox and PC. I’ve noticed that advice from one player doesn’t always translate perfectly to another platform because the market situation can be different. It would be interesting to hear how players on different platforms manage their budgets and whether they use completely different approaches to buying and selling cards.
For players who are building a squad around a specific league, nation or playstyle, I imagine coin management can be even more important. A flexible squad can sometimes make it easier to take advantage of cheaper players, while a highly specific team may require saving for particular cards. I usually prefer having a squad that fits my preferred formation and tactics rather than chasing overall ratings, but that also means some upgrades can be quite expensive.
I’d also like to hear how people handle their coins during different stages of the FC 26 cycle. Early on, even relatively small amounts can make a noticeable difference, while later in the cycle the cost of competitive players can become much higher. Do you change your spending strategy as your club develops, or do you follow roughly the same approach throughout the year?
Finally, what would you consider the biggest mistake when managing FC 26 Coins? Is it spending too much on individual players, completing too many unnecessary SBCs, trading without understanding the market, buying at the wrong time, or simply failing to keep enough coins available for future opportunities? I’m trying to develop a more disciplined approach instead of constantly spending whenever I see an interesting card, so I’d really appreciate hearing how experienced Ultimate Team players manage their coin balance and decide where their budget should go.
