This is my second year working with Splunk (SPL, dashboards, macros), and now I have been contemplating getting the Advanced Power User certificate. Those who aren’t familiar with Splunk know that the Advanced Power User cert goes one level beyond the basic Core User cert and proves your ability to create advanced searches, dashboards, and data models by yourself.
I honestly expected to hear that it was just another “meh, I’m only checking the box on my resume” thing, given how things have slowed down and the competition among certifications out there now. But researching this topic has changed my mind.
I found this breakdown of the Splunk Core Certified Advanced Power User certification career path, and it actually laid out the longer-term trajectory pretty clearly: where this cert sits in the global jobs market, how it plays into career progression, and real data instead of just opinions. That’s what settled it for me. Still a genuine differentiator, not just a “nice-to-have” line.
In case you are torn about whether to watch this or not like me, I think you should give this page a shot. And if you’ve already got the cert, curious whether it’s played out the same way for you in actual interviews.
