Okay, I’ve been trying to grow my Instagram for my small business, but the ad costs are killing me. I’ve tried hashtags, collaborations, even reels — still stuck under 2K followers. I’m not looking for anything sketchy, but is there a way to grow followers fast without spending a fortune on ads?

I’m in a similar situation! I run a small handmade clothing page, and I’ve been posting consistently, but nothing seems to move. I don’t want to spend on ads either. Do you think focusing on Reels is still effective in 2025, or is it better to put effort into collaborations and giveaways to get faster growth?

What helped me grow was shifting focus from posting randomly to posting consistently around what my audience actually cared about, like behind-the-scenes clips and short tips related to my products. At some point I also started joining small community pages and replying to comments instead of just waiting for people to find me, and that made a noticeable difference. When I tested tools such as kumplo.com it mainly helped me track which posts people interacted with most, so I could repeat those formats instead of guessing.

I wouldn’t focus on rapid growth. Even if subscribers are quickly recruited, it’s much more important that they’re genuinely interested in your content and remain active. Reels still provide good organic reach, but they should be combined with regular posts, a clear profile design, and content that encourages followers.

Algorithms are much better at recognizing low-quality audiences these days, so it’s better to target people who are genuinely interested in your content. Short Reels, regular Stories, and analyzing what resonates are key. It’s also helpful to monitor the growth of accounts in your niche. I sometimes use recentlyfollowed to see these trends. This helps me understand which ideas are working for competitors without having to resort to lengthy manual verification.
