I’m looking to get back into some classic CS 1.6 for old times’ sake, but finding a decent installer nowadays is proving to be a massive headache. Every second website I find on Google looks like a relic from 2005, covered in sketchy pop-up ads, or the download links redirect to some weird file-sharing hosting services that try to push browser extensions on you. Last night I finally managed to download a version, but it turned out to be completely ruined. The game menu was flooded with spam links to specific Russian servers, and half the default game files were modified with custom models that looked terrible. I just want a classic, untouched, vanilla version of the game that runs smoothly on a modern PC, has the original steam-like models, and includes a working master server so I can actually find active public lobbies to play on. Does anyone have a verified, safe source that won’t trigger my antivirus?
