I need some honest opinions here because I’m genuinely torn between thinking I’m being too paranoid about my car and actually having a legitimate problem that needs attention. I’ve got a 2019 Levante with about 60,000 kilometers on it and over the past month I’ve noticed this really annoying behavior in heavy stop-and-go traffic, which is basically my daily reality commuting through Sharjah. What happens is that when I’m crawling along and then try to accelerate gently, the car sometimes does this weird lurch, almost like the gearbox is engaging too aggressively. It’s not every time, maybe once or twice during a typical commute, but it’s enough to make me cringe and worry about what’s going on inside the transmission. The weird part is that the car drives absolutely perfectly on the open road, smooth shifts, responsive acceleration, no issues at all. It’s only in that specific low-speed, stop-and-go scenario that the problem shows up, which makes me think it might be something to do with the transmission adaptation learning the stop-start driving pattern. I’ve read a few forums where people mentioned that the ZF 8HP in these cars can sometimes develop a harsh 1st to 2nd gear engagement, especially if the fluid is getting old or if the mechatronics needs recalibration. The article mentioned that sometimes a simple fluid flush and adaptation reset can sort out these low-speed issues, but other times it could be a sign of a failing solenoid in the valve body.
