The kidneys play a central role in the mechanism of action of Empahert-25 (Empagliflozin 10mg/25mg Tablets). Empagliflozin works by blocking the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) proteins located in the proximal tubules of the kidneys, which are responsible for reabsorbing glucose back into the bloodstream. By inhibiting SGLT-2, Empahert-25 reduces glucose reabsorption and allows excess sugar to be eliminated through urine, helping to lower blood sugar levels in adults and children aged 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes. In addition to improving glycemic control when combined with diet and exercise, it also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
