This “game within a game” contains both historical and contextual background as well as game mechanics that allow players to pursue prospecting.
Note that large scale (i.e. commercial) mining is outside the scope of this game.
Prospecting is another iconic feature of the Old West and something your players may wish to take part in. This book provides game mechanics to facilitate individual prospecting and incorporating a potential gold strike into your campaign, as the default setting is located near to many historic gold deposits.
Like the other mini-games, this book is presented as ‘big picture’ game specific to the relevant topic while permitting and encouraging breaking out of the abstract rules to role-play interactions and other matters.
Several possible gold strikes are provided permitting you to choose one or more viable sites while leaving the others bare. This prevents the use of real world research to sidestep your campaign and ensures that any gold found is the result of both good luck and hard work.
As a digital product, you can print out the sundry maps as needed.
